Well my dad had his back surgery today. He was told it would be an outpatient surgery, but it ended up being a larger section of the disc than they had originally thought, so he has to stay over night and he's not allowed to get up he's got to lay still. That really sucks and I feel bad for him. Plus, he feels crappy now after the surgery and he was hoping he would be able to come home later today.He had a herniated disc about 15 years ago, and that time he had to stay overnight as well, but that was more due to the fact that he put off the surgery for so long that they had to cut much deeper and longer to get the piece they were after.The good news is he should be able to resume playing tennis and golf in about 6-8 weeks, so that's good. He was really worried that they'd tell him he can't play any sports anymore, since he's been an athlete all his life, and gets both enjoyment and stress relief from coaching my 13 yr old brother's baseball team and playing tennis with him and friends. The bad news is he can't do any heavy lifting, so it'll have to be me and my mom packing all my dorm stuff into the car. The worst bit will be bringing it down the stairs tho, cos there are 3 flights of stairs and I'm at the top...*groan* and the heavy stuff like the TV and shelves are gonna be hard to get...but luckily they're the only really heavy items so all should be well. Anyway, I miss my dad. I haven't spoken to him today but I did talk to him last night and he seemed upbeat about it. It sucks tho that he had to hurt his back the day before his 51st birthday last Saturday. What a bad birthday present!
